Everbridge Acquires Strategic Assets of Nixle to Redefine Communications for Local Communities and Businesses

Lexington, MA, January 6, 2015Everbridge, the worldwide leader in unified critical communications, has acquired the assets and team of San Francisco-based Nixle, a leading software platform for local, public safety and service communications. The combination of Everbridge’s market dominance in emergency notification, with Nixle’s innovative approach to community engagement, will redefine the way that organizations communicate and collaborate with local residents, schools and businesses.

Nixle delivers real-time, relevant information from public safety agencies to local communities, encouraging interaction and engagement. The company has grown to support over 7,000 public safety and government agencies at the local, county and state level, and millions of opt-in users. The combined Everbridge/Nixle team will expand the use of community notifications and shared intelligence to reach residents, educators, public safety professionals, local businesses and community leaders.

“This is an exciting acquisition that will change the way that public and private organizations engage with local communities,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “Our extensive experience in state, regional and local government emergency notification deployments pairs perfectly with Nixle’s community platform. We look forward to leveraging this expanded local presence to continue to develop the most innovative critical communication products on the market.”

The Nixle and Everbridge product platforms will continue to be managed separately. Over time, Nixle and Everbridge will leverage the features and functions available in both platforms to launch new communication solutions for community organizations and small businesses.

“We are delighted to join Everbridge’s global team of critical communication professionals,” said Eric Liu, CEO of Nixle. “Together, we will expand our reach to a huge number of communities and businesses with critical and community based communications. We are excited about enabling this extensive network with new mobile, voice, SMS and email solutions for community engagement and safety.”
