Learning from Boston: Crisis Communication

On Monday, April 15th, 2013, the City of Boston was attacked during the running of the 117th Boston Marathon. Following this attack, area police immediately set in place emergency response and subsequently coordinated with the FBI for a week-long manhunt while corporations, public facilities, universities and hospitals issued a number of critical notifications connected to the incident. Unfortunately, acts of violence are increasing in frequency, however thanks to the preparation and swift response from law enforcement and these organizations, further losses were minimized.

Crisis communications played a pivotal role in the events that followed the explosions in downtown Boston, from the initial response to the eventual regional lock down and apprehension.
