Glendale, Calif. – Aug. 26, 2013 – Audrain County, located in Missouri, has been awarded the 2012 Award of County Excellence by the Missouri Association of Counties for its implementation of Everbridge, the leading provider of critical communications. Audrain County primarily uses the system for emergency notifications regarding crime and severe weather.
Everbridge was originally implemented by Audrain County in 2012 to provide emergency notifications to all citizens using public directory phone listings and personal contact information gathered in its citizen opt-in portal. Audrain County first utilized the Everbridge system in early 2013 to locate a missing 8-year-old girl who had wandered off playing and did not inform her grandmother of her whereabouts. To assist in the search for the missing girl, Audrain County immediately issued an Everbridge alert over multiple contact paths to all citizens of the county containing information on the child. Within an hour, a neighbor notified officers of the missing girl’s location and she was found unharmed.
Audrain County now provides its citizens with area-specific notifications for severe weather, public safety, public health, disaster response, and community events. Audrain County has since shared the program with 13 other counties in the Highway Patrol’s Region F of Missouri to increase response resources as well.
“Implementing the Everbridge system was an important element of our emergency preparedness strategy,” said Steven Shaw, Director of Emergency Management of Audrain County. “It is an honor to be recognized by the Missouri Association of Counties for our efforts to ensure the safety of our community.”
