Everbridge Clients Use Emergency Notification to Address Swine Flu (H1N1 Virus) Concerns

Communication tool proves vital in pandemic preparedness and response

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – May 5, 2009 – Everbridge (formerly 3n Global), the world’s recognized leader in incident notification systems, today announced that its clients have leveraged the Everbridge Aware emergency notification solution to communicate important information about the swine flu (H1N1 virus) with key audiences, including employees, residents and students, to ensure public safety and prevent flu hysteria during the global health crisis.

“The Everbridge Aware emergency notification system is a critical part of the Town of Durham’s emergency response plans,” said Francis S. Willett, Director of Emergency Management for the Town of Durham, CT. “Throughout this H1N1 (swine flu) outbreak, we’ve been using the system daily to hold conference calls with essential staff to provide updates about the influenza virus and to discuss our go-forward plans. Everbridge plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of our residents by enabling us to provide information and instructions in a timely, effective manner while keeping lines of communication open.”

More than 1,000 organizations have implemented Everbridge Aware for rapid and reliable communications during emergencies such as the swine flu outbreak. In addition to using the Everbridge emergency notification system to provide relevant information to constituents—including office and school closures, work-at-home policies and guidance on preventing the spread of the H1N1 virus—clients are relying on the communication platform to safeguard the continuity of business operations.

“The Bank of Hawaii is using the Everbridge emergency notification system daily to keep executive management current on the national and international H1N1 flu situation and to keep them apprised on the implementation of applicable sections of our corporate pandemic plan,“ said Raymond Trombley, Corporate Business Continuity Manager for the Bank of Hawaii.

”As the H1N1 influenza threat level increases, having a pandemic communication plan in place and the tools to activate that plan is imperative in combating the spread of the virus and preventing panic,” said Cinta Putra, Chief Executive Officer for Everbridge. “After the SARS and avian flu scares, we learned about the importance of identifying potential readiness gaps, which is why we worked with pandemic communication expert Dr. Robert C. Chandler to develop Everbridge for Pandemics. By providing almost 300 pandemic-specific message maps, we know we’re helping emergency response teams better prepare and respond to pandemic threats.”
