Florida Regional Domestic Security Task Forces Select Joint Everbridge and Medworxx Incident Notification & Command Solution

Integrated Hospital Emergency Readiness Platform Improves Emergency Preparedness and Response

LOS ANGELES, CA and TORONTO, ON – May 19, 2009 – Everbridge (formerly 3n Global), the world’s recognized leader in incident notification systems, and Medworxx, the makers of healthcare solutions for decision support, compliance and education, today announced that their integrated advanced incident command solution (ICS) for hospitals has been adopted throughout significant portions of Regions 2 and 3 of the Florida Regional Domestic Security Task Forces (RDSTF), encompassing the North Central and Northeastern portions of the state.

Funded by the Florida Department of Health (DOH) to enhance hospital response and interoperable communications, the project—which combines the Everbridge emergency notification platform with the Medworxx Emergency Readiness System—supports National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance and key requirements from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR).

After evaluating several solution providers, hospitals and healthcare organizations in Regions 2 and 3 of the Florida RDSTF selected the integrated Everbridge/Medworxx joint solution based on comprehensive system criteria provided by the DOH, including:

  • Ability to share information, collaborate across regions and provide real-time situational awareness
  • Usability and inter-facility integration
  • Support of federal standards: NIMS capabilities, ASPR priority sub-capabilities and Joint Commission Standards of Care
  • Support of planning and preparedness activities: hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) preparation, emergency operations plan (EOP) drills and disaster preparedness training exercises
  • Data collection, management and real-time, automated reporting of critical assets

“In assessing hospital communication systems, the First Coast Disaster Council looked at how solutions would support critical response functions within facilities, across the community and throughout RDSTF-3,” said Tony Suszczynski, Disaster Preparedness Coordinator for Shands Jacksonville Medical Center. “By offering everyday utility to our facility through the ICS functionality of Medworxx integrated with the powerful emergency communications system of Everbridge, the Everbridge/Medworxx system provided the most comprehensive solution for our region’s needs. Leveraging the technology of the combined system will greatly enhance the emergency preparedness and response capabilities of our facility and region—it is a major step ahead.”
