Roche Pharmaceuticals Implements Everbridge for Severe Weather and Emergency Communications

Glendale, Calif. – Sept. 9, 2013 – Everbridge, the leading provider of critical communication solutions, today announced that Roche Pharmaceuticals, the world’s largest biotech company, is using Everbridge as a single system for operational and emergency communications. Previous to implementing Everbridge, Roche was utilizing a call tree system which was time consuming and took a lot of effort from supervisors and personnel.

Being a pharmaceuticals company, Roche stores many materials that are explosive, toxic, and corrosive in its chemical plants. If a chemical fire occurs, there is the potential of a chemical release, which could have harmful effects. Additionally, severe weather is a major concern for Roche, specifically around snowstorms and ice storms during the winter season. During these incidents, it is imperative that Roche is able to contact its staff in the most efficient manner. Because these communications are critical to protecting lives and property, Roche’s security department tests the system weekly. In this way, Roche is able to ensure that users understand how to utilize the system properly and that the system is running smoothly.

Roche Pharmaceuticals uses the Everbridge system for emergency mass notifications. If any events occur that alter the normal routine of the facility, the Everbridge system is put into place. Roche Pharmaceuticals also utilizes Everbridge’s severe weather alerts, specifically during the winter season, for events such as snowstorms and ice storms.

“Roche Pharmaceuticals uses the Everbridge system for any event that may alter the normal routine of the facility,” said Bryan Draper, security operations manager, Roche Pharmaceuticals. “We have found that one of the most important things in these situations is training and practice. In this way, we ensure that we have put in place the right system and practices to mitigate the risk associated with critical incidents.”

“The Everbridge system is designed so that it can be used in any type of situation or emergency, over a broad spectrum of events,” said Imad Mouline, chief technology officer, Everbridge. “For a company such as Roche Pharmaceuticals that sees a vast range of emergencies that can span from chemical fires to ice storms, the Everbridge system is perfect for enabling these organizations to reach employees quickly and effectively, protecting their personnel and property.”
