South Windsor, Connecticut Rolls Out Everbridge System to Resounding Community Approval

Leveraging Connecticut’s Statewide Emergency Notification System, South Windsor Earns Praise from Mayor, Council Members and Residents

LOS ANGELES, CA – April 20, 2010 – Everbridge, the world’s recognized leader in incident notification systems and emergency managers in the town of South Windsor, CT, today announced the successful implementation and extraordinary citizen adoption of the Everbridge Aware system in conjunction with  Connecticut’s statewide emergency notification system rollout. During a test this month, the town successfully sent out over 10,000 messages, drawing a large number of new citizens signing up to participate. South Windsor authorities also received an overwhelmingly positive response from residents including emails from citizens praising the town’s proactive efforts to implement the alerting system.

“We strive to provide the citizens of South Windsor with the best and most advanced communications services. The positive response to our use of Everbridge is affirmation that our residents are pleased with our efforts,” said Scott Custer, Public Information Officer and Police Sergeant, town of South Windsor, CT. “A system like Everbridge allows us to easily keep our citizens informed without draining our limited resources, so our officers and staff can respond to calls for service. In an emergency, every minute counts and the Everbridge system allows us to prepare messages for use before, during and after events which allows us to contact the people we serve with the information they need, when they need it most.”

The Everbridge emergency notification system allows South Windsor emergency managers to send critical messages to residents and businesses instantly across multiple communication devices—including cell phone, home phone, email, text messaging, fax, pager, PDA and more. Community members will now receive alerts about severe weather, power outages, road closures, and other emergency or critical information.

“I was pleased and impressed to receive the very clearly spoken message via the Everbridge System. I am proud to live in a town that provides such a beneficial service,” said Loretta Cyr, South Windsor resident.

“South Windsor has been extremely proactive in reaching out to residents to promote and explain the importance of emergency notification, resulting in an impressive opt-in rate,” said Cinta Putra, Chief Executive Officer for Everbridge. “We are excited to welcome South Windsor to our growing roster of city governments taking great steps to ensure the safety of their communities.”
