The State of Connecticut partnered with Everbridge as part of its strategy to create a single enhanced communications network between every hospital, emergency management agency, business and citizen within the state. Over the course of three years, Everbridge has provided the State of Connecticut with the most efficient and versatile incident management and mass communications tools to meet the needs of the various departments and agencies, resulting in one of the most multifaceted and successful implementations in industry history. Over 100 agencies are participating in the CT Alert deployment state wide, with 93 911 Centers and over 15 other state agencies.
The system is used for emergency notification as well as day-to-day operations and has 800 trained users, many of which are interacting with the system on a daily basis. A statewide system increases operational efficiencies through a single unified platform, allowing for easy and standardized training and testing as well as the development of state-specific best practices. After seeing the success in state-run agencies, 41 cities, towns health districts and council of governments went on to purchase their own municipal Everbridge system for emergency and non-emergency use.
Many police departments are using the system for overtime, as Mike Guerrera of the State of Connecticut explained, “Many messages are prepared in the system for overtime. They go out to all the state troopers who are eligible for overtime and say ‘Are you interested? Please respond.” By using the system for day-to-day operations, the State of Connecticut is not only improving operational efficiencies, but increasing administrator exposure to the system which could translate into valuable experience in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.
