Secure, resilient architecture for critical event management at global scale

When critical events happen, organizations need more than fast communications. They need confidence that the platform behind those communications is secure, resilient, scalable, and ready to perform when demand is highest.

Everbridge 360, the Everbridge Critical Event Management platform, is built on a cloud-based architecture designed to support high availability, strong data protection, and reliable performance across global operations. From secure access controls and network segmentation to multi-zone deployment, regional redundancy, continuous monitoring, and large-scale message delivery, Everbridge 360 helps organizations communicate, coordinate, and respond with confidence.

For security, IT, resilience, risk, and business continuity teams, that means a platform designed not only to reach people quickly, but to protect the systems, data, and workflows that make response possible.

Designed for security from the first connection

Everbridge 360 routes customer access through secure entry points, including web application firewalls and DDoS protection services, helping protect the platform from unauthorized access and external threats.

The platform operates within a secure AWS Virtual Private Cloud and is organized into clearly defined network segments for production services, data storage, development, and deployment environments. Administrative access is tightly controlled and limited to authorized personnel through secure corporate access channels.

Continuous monitoring, logging, and security tools operate across the environment to help teams identify, investigate, and respond to potential threats.

Built for resilience when availability matters most

Critical event management platforms are often used during disruption, uncertainty, and peak demand. Everbridge 360 is architected to help maintain service continuity even when infrastructure issues occur.

Platform services are deployed across three AWS datacenters, each located in a separate Availability Zone. One datacenter actively handles production traffic, while two additional datacenters remain on hot standby with near real-time, asynchronously replicated data. If a disruption or performance issue occurs, services are designed to fail over automatically.

For Everbridge services in the United States, two AWS regions support business continuity and disaster recovery. A primary region supports active operations, while a secondary region is maintained in a warm standby state, with near real-time data replication to keep it ready if needed.

Failover between datacenters and regions is tested annually to help confirm recovery objectives are met.

Data protection across the platform

Everbridge 360 applies standard industry security practices to help protect customer information across the platform. Internal communication between services is encrypted in transit, and sensitive data is encrypted at rest.

Security boundaries are also applied to integrations with trusted external providers used for identity management and multi-channel communications. Outbound delivery channels such as SMS, email, and voice are designed to support reliable communications at scale without introducing inbound risk to the core platform.

This approach helps organizations balance the need for rapid, multi-channel communications with the security expectations of enterprise and public-sector environments.

Scaled for critical moments, not average days

Critical events can create sudden spikes in usage. A major incident, severe weather event, cyber disruption, public safety alert, or operational interruption can require organizations to reach large populations quickly while still supporting smaller, time-sensitive tasks.

Everbridge 360 is designed to maintain consistent performance in line with Everbridge service-level commitments. The platform uses non-starvation algorithms to help prevent large workloads, such as broadcasts or bulk uploads, from impacting smaller or urgent activities.

Everbridge also performs ongoing capacity planning based on historical trends, seasonal patterns, expected peak events, and projected customer and platform growth. This proactive approach helps the platform scale ahead of demand rather than simply react to it.

Scalability where it counts.
Designed for high-volume broadcasts, bulk uploads, urgent workflows, and global communications demand.

Assurance for regulated and security-conscious organizations

Everbridge supports customer due diligence with a broad security, compliance, and assurance program aligned to the needs of enterprise, government, healthcare, financial services, and globally regulated organizations.

Relevant assurance and compliance areas may include:

A platform architecture customers can trust

Everbridge 360 brings together secure cloud architecture, multi-zone resilience, regional redundancy, encrypted communications, continuous monitoring, controlled access, and scalable delivery infrastructure.

For organizations evaluating critical event management platforms, this matters. The right platform must do more than send messages. It must help protect sensitive data, support continuity, scale during urgent events, and give stakeholders confidence that the underlying architecture is ready for the moments that matter most.

Everbridge 360 security & infrastructure FAQs

What is Everbridge 360 from a security and infrastructure perspective?

Customer access to Everbridge 360 is protected through multiple layers of security. Access is secured by web application firewalls (WAFs), DDoS protection, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and role-based access controls (RBAC) to ensure users have only the permissions they require. Privileged access is protected with MFA and subject to regular access reviews. Everbridge 360 is hosted within a secure AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) with segmented production, data storage, development, and deployment environments. Additional security measures include network firewalls and intrusion detection systems to help protect the platform from unauthorized access and threats.

How does Everbridge 360 protect customer access to the platform?

Everbridge 360 is designed for high availability and business continuity. The platform is deployed across three AWS Availability Zones, with one serving production traffic and two in hot standby with near real-time asynchronous replication. For U.S. services, a secondary AWS region operates in a warm-standby configuration for disaster recovery, with annual failover testing. This architecture provides redundancy, minimizes service disruption, and helps ensure platform availability.

What commitments does Everbridge make regarding platform availability, redundancy, and delivery capacity?

Our Critical Event Management (CEM) platform delivers 99.99% transactional uptimeacross 15+ globally distributed data centers. The platform is designed with full-stack redundancy, multiple SMS and voice providers, and flexible capacity to support reliable, large-scale message delivery. Also our globally dispersed data centers are monitored 24×7, with geo-redundancy managed by two Network Operations Centers (NOCs) to help maintain platform availability and resilience.

What uptime, redundancy, and delivery-scale claims does Everbridge make publicly?

Everbridge protects customer data through encryption both in transit and at rest. Internal service-to-service communications and Client Personal Data are encrypted in transit, while sensitive data stored in Everbridge-hosted environments is encrypted at rest. Encryption keys are protected through key management controls. Everbridge also designs its outbound delivery channels—including SMS, email, and voice—to support large-scale communications while minimizing risk to the core platform.

How is customer data protected in transit and at rest?

Everbridge 360 is designed to maintain consistent performance during periods of high demand. The platform uses non-starvation scheduling algorithms to help ensure that large workloads—such as mass notifications or bulk uploads—do not delay smaller or time-sensitive tasks. To support sustained performance, Everbridge also performs ongoing capacity planning based on historical usage, seasonal trends, anticipated peak events, and projected growth.

How does Everbridge prevent large broadcasts from impacting urgent tasks?

Everbridge supports the delivery of critical event communications across 100+ modalities, including SMS, voice, email, digital signage, PC alert systems, and sirens. The platform is designed for global reach, with optimized voice routing, advanced SMS delivery, secure smartphone notifications, and localization capabilities supporting operations in 200+ countries and territories.

What communication channels and delivery options are supported?

Everbridge’s Trust Center provides a centralized resource for security, compliance, sustainability, and due diligence documentation. Customers can request materials including SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 reports, penetration test summaries, business continuity and disaster recovery documentation, SIG Lite, CAIQ, data flow diagrams, and infrastructure summaries to support security assessments and vendor due diligence.

What security and compliance documentation can customers request?

Customers can use the Everbridge Trust Center to access current certifications, audit reports, architecture summaries, security questionnaires, privacy policies, and product-specific documentation. Trust Center resources are regularly updated to support security reviews and vendor due diligence.

How should customers validate Everbridge security claims during due diligence?

Critical event management only works when the platform itself remains available under pressure. Everbridge 360 is designed with layered security, resilient cloud infrastructure, and enterprise-scale performance so organizations can focus on responding to events—not worrying about the technology supporting them.
