Everbridge Announces Critical Event Management and Acquisition of IDV Solutions

IDV’s Threat Assessment and Operational Visualization Solution to Become Part of Industry’s First Integrated Software Platform for Managing Critical Events

Burlington, Mass. – January 31, 2017 – Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced that it has acquired IDV Solutions, LLC, a leading provider of threat assessment and operational visualization software. IDV’s powerful Visual Command Center® (“VCC”) application displays an integrated picture of external threats and events overlaid with an organization’s people, assets and supply routes, along with other contextual information to enable timely assessment and operational response. In combination with Everbridge’s critical communication, incident management and employee safety capabilities, IDV’s VCC application will form a key component of the industry’s first Critical Event Management™ (CEM) platform for dynamically assessing, responding to, and managing the resolution of the wide range of threats and disruptions which impact organizations’ daily operations.

IDV Solutions transforms an organization’s situational intelligence and operational visibility during a critical event. The VCC application enables customers to monitor and integrate more than 100 types of threat data, as well as information on internal incidents, to generate and visualize an alert when potential risks occur within proximity of an organization’s physical locations, suppliers, assets and people. The solution improves the ability to more quickly understand and assess the impact of threats, execute the correct response, and monitor on-going resolution in order to mitigate risk to personnel safety, business continuity, assets and supply chain operations. The highly visual and intuitive VCC solution is used by global distribution companies such as Amazon, leading technology companies such as Dell and VMware, pharmaceutical giants such as Pfizer, major retailers such as Tiffany & Company, large energy companies such as Noble Energy, supply chain leaders such as XPO Logistics, and government entities such as St. Clair County in Michigan.

IDV has been an Everbridge strategic partner since 2014. Everbridge’s global, multi-modal communication capabilities enhance VCC’s ability to help companies take action based upon identified risks, and Everbridge’s Safety Connection® application will enable users of VCC to more dynamically locate people who may be at risk, or can respond to an incident.

Industry’s First Critical Event Management (“CEM”) Platform Everbridge is integrating its market leading critical communication, incident management (enhanced by the previously announced Crisis Commander acquisition) and employee safety capabilities with the threat assessment and visualization capabilities of the VCC application to create the industry’s first CEM platform. Everbridge’s CEM is designed to provide organizations with a single platform for managing the full array of intelligence, coordination and task execution items required to speed the response to the many critical incidents that impact daily operations, including severe weather, terrorism, workplace violence, IT outages and cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions, product recalls, environmental accidents or power outages. The annual cost of these types of events exceeded $535 billion in 2015, and they are complex to assess, manage and mitigate.

CEM will provide organizations with a more integrated operational approach to the often disparate systems used today to manage major incidents and IT operations events by delivering an end-to-end view integrating threats, operational impact and response status information on a “single pane of glass.” CEM is intended to enable corporate and government organizations to consolidate overlapping systems and drive cost efficiencies, as well as to improve response time, minimize disruption, and attain better management control in handling critical events. The CEM platform will also integrate with leading Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) as well as Business Continuity Planning (BCP) solutions.

“Many of our over 3,000 corporate and government customers have told us that they are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting separate command centers for security, IT, and supply chain operations, and yet they still struggle to manage the increasing number of critical events affecting their enterprises,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO, Everbridge. “We believe CEM can provide a unified understanding of these critical events through a common platform that will enable a higher level of situational intelligence and collaboration, ultimately reducing the cost and overall impact to operations.”

“Leveraging Everbridge’s deep and complementary technical capabilities will enhance our ability to provide even more strategic value and expertise to our customers,” said Mark Morrison, CEO, IDV Solutions. “The ability to combine security, supply chain and IT operations threats and incidents in one common view, ensure all the relevant stakeholders are informed and receive feedback from them, have continuous visibility into the status of remediation, and analyze team performance over time to identify bottlenecks and make improvements will greatly enhance the impact of our current solutions.”

Financial Information The aggregate consideration paid by Everbridge was approximately $18.7 million in cash, with additional time and performance-based cash payments that could total as much an additional $8.7 million. Everbridge will provide specific information on the expected impact of the acquisition on Everbridge’s financial results after completing its purchase accounting review. In addition, as previously announced, Everbridge will report its fourth quarter and full year 2016 financial results on February 27, 2017, at which time it will also provide guidance for its business for the first quarter and full year 2017.

Everbridge Acquires Svensk Krisledning AB and its Mobile Collaboration and Crisis Management Product – Crisis Commander

Crisis Commander® Simplifies the Mobile Distribution of Business Continuity and Incident Response Plans and Makes Them More Actionable

BURLINGTON, Mass. – Jan. 19, 2017 – Everbridge, Inc. (Nasdaq: EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced that it has acquired Sweden-based Svensk Krisledning AB, the developer of the SaaS mobile crisis management solution, Crisis Commander. The acquired solution extends the Everbridge Suite by enabling complementary mobile collaboration, task assignment and response management during critical events. Executive teams, business continuity managers and security professionals employ the Crisis Commander product to provide mobile access to recovery, crisis and brand protection plans, as well as to manage a crisis or event through role-based assignments and status updates. Organizations can enhance their overall crisis management efforts by ensuring that plans are readily available to responders on the most popular mobile platforms regardless of their location. The Crisis Commander solution also simplifies updating plans for changes to personnel or processes, and enhances visibility into response progress during an event. The highly intuitive product is used by over 100 customers, including Volvo Group, Nestle S.A., Siemens Sweden, Nissan Motor Company, The Absolut Group and Tui Group. “Organizations have traditionally relied on paper and binders to record and store their crisis plans, but that practice is very outdated in a mobile world,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “Crisis Commander naturally fits with our commitment to helping organizations be better prepared to keep people safe and to rapidly respond to business incidents. The solution makes the coordination, collaboration, and follow-through of response during an event more transparent and auditable.” The Crisis Commander product is highly complementary to the Everbridge suite and its two-way communication and automated workflow capabilities will be heightened by integration with the platform. The acquisition brings technology that will enhance Everbridge’s core mobility platform and extend the capabilities of its market leading employee safety and security solutions. “The opportunity to join forces with the Everbridge team presented a strategic opportunity for the Crisis Commander team. We can now merge our robust mobile collaboration offerings with the industry leader for critical communications to offer the strongest crisis management and response solution in the industry,” said Thomas Hagström, CEO, Svensk Krisledning AB. “We are excited about joining the Everbridge team and continuing our journey of serving the business continuity and crisis management efforts of organizations around the globe.” Svensk Krisledning is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Everbridge, and the company’s employees will remain based in Stockholm. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, and the transaction is not expected to have a material impact on 2017 revenue or profitability. About Everbridge Everbridge, Inc. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System Deploys Everbridge for Emergency Preparedness and Clinical Communications

Health System Implements CareConverge™ Solution to Reduce Response Time During Critical and Clinical Events

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced that Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System (DHRHS) has deployed Everbridge’s healthcare-specific solution CareConverge. DHRHS intends to use the CareConverge solution to improve emergency preparedness and response, as well as to power secure and HIPAA-compliant care team coordination during clinical codes and incidents. The health system selected CareConverge due to the strength of Everbridge’s critical communications platform, as well as the breadth of the solution’s focused industry offerings, which include Mass Notification, Incident Communications for code alerts and care events, Desktop Alerting, On-Call Scheduling and HipaaBridge.

“As a physician-owned hospital, our organization recognizes the value of leveraging a single, unified incident communications system that can be leveraged by our emergency management, clinical, operational and care teams to improve incident response times and collaboration,” said Sherri Abendroth, Emergency Management Coordinator, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System. “Through Everbridge, with the push of a single button, we can locate the right on-call staff, automate notifications to emergency personnel to ensure staff safety and even reach clinical response teams on their mobile devices to activate them during a STEMI alert.” Based in Edinburg, Texas, DHRHS is a 530+ bed physician-owned health system that offers some of the most comprehensive medical care on the U.S. Southern Border. The health system has over 700 physicians and more than 1,200 nurses dedicated to delivering patient care and quality outcomes. Prior to implementing the Everbridge solution, DHRHS did not have a comprehensive notification system in place and required a cloud-based platform to power both mass notifications and secure communications between clinicians when the network was down. The organization also desired the ability to reach employees and clinicians securely on mobile devices during clinical and non-clinical codes, to help reduce the number of overhead pages, improve patient throughput, and enhance care quality. To improve critical communications across the organization, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance will be implementing the following Everbridge products, all available as a part of its CareConverge solution:
  • Mass Notification will be utilized to support the health system’s emergency and disaster preparedness program. The application delivers emergency notifications to clinical and non-clinical staff across multiple devices and contact paths during codes, external events and facility-based emergencies. Desktop alerting functionality will also distribute emergency alerts directly to the desktops of employees, to help improve response time and help ensure that important messages are being received when every second counts.
  • Incident Communications will be deployed to automate incident response. The solution allows DHRHS to create messaging templates that follow communication and escalation workflows for different types of care events and emergencies. This will be used to power code alerts, such as STEMI, to activate the right response team members, such as ER doctors and cardiologists.
  • On-Call Scheduling will be used and integrated with incident management to help ensure that the organization can easily identify, locate and reach on-call staff in order to reach right clinician, at the right time, to facilitate immediate care and response.
  • HipaaBridge will be used by clinicians and staff members to receive emergency messages and code alerts, facilitate video, text and voice calls, coordinate testing and lab results and bring stakeholders together quickly to diagnose and treat patients.
“For Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System, it is critical that the medical center leverages the latest emergency and incident management technology,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “The most important part of being prepared for a potential crisis is knowing how you will share information with decision-makers, staff and patients alike – so it can be done quickly and easily when the situation arises. With Everbridge in place, the center will be able to automate this process, connecting all of these parties and keeping them informed in near real-time.” Everbridge serves over 800 hospitals and over 3,000 customers, including many communities and organizations in Texas such as the City of Lewisville and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Everbridge Survey: Lack of Automation Hinders Speed of Response to IT Outages and Incidents

IT Downtime Costs Companies $8,662 Per Minute – and it Takes 27 Minutes to Assemble an Incident Response Team

BURLINGTON, Mass., December 21, 2016 —Everbridge, a global enterprise software company that provides applications which automate the delivery of critical information to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced the findings of its 2016 State of IT Management survey. The research report polled 152 IT professionals to measure how often significant outages occur, how quickly their organizations can respond, and the cost of IT downtime.

While most companies have automated service management, with greater than 90 percent of companies reporting that they have an IT Service Management system (ITSM), only 11 percent of companies stated that they have automated the process for organizing their response to IT outages and incidents. This finding is significant because 47 percent of companies reported having a major IT incident at least 6 times a year, the average cost of downtime is $8,662 per minute, and companies take 27 minutes on average to assemble an IT response team. Everbridge’s experience with customers who have automated the IT response process shows that companies could reduce this average time to 5 minutes or less, saving an average of $190,000 per major IT incident and significantly improving worker productivity.

Key findings from the research include:

Most Companies Have an ITSM or Ticketing System:
  • Over 90 percent of companies reported using an ITSM or ticketing system. The two most commonly used were ServiceNow (26 percent) and BMC Remedy (20 percent).
Major IT Outages or Incidents Occur Quite Frequently:
  • 47 percent of companies experience a major IT outage or incident six times or more a year; 36 percent experience them close to monthly (11 or more times per year). More than a quarter of respondents reported that their companies experienced more than 21 incidents last year—that’s close to two per month. Only 9 percent of respondents reported that their organization did not report a major IT outage or incident in the past year.
  • The most common sources of incidents are network outages (experienced by 61 percent of companies), hardware failure or capacity issues (58 percent), internal business application issues (51 percent), and unplanned maintenance (41 percent).
Responding to IT Outages and Incidents is Complicated and Too Manual
  • Two thirds (66 percent) of companies have distributed IT organizations with people spread among multiple locations and multiple time zones.
  • 39 percent have more than 25 people included in their IT response teams; 28 percent have more than 50 people who need to be coordinated to respond to an incident; 16 percent have more than 100 people.
  • 43 percent of respondents reported that at least part of their process relies on manually calling and reaching out to people to activate the incident response team. Only 11 percent reported using an IT alerting tool to automate the process.
Response Times Could be Significantly Reduced by Automation
  • The mean time to activate and assemble a response team was cited as 27 minutes. Automated solutions can reduce this response time to 5 minutes or less.
IT downtime is Expensive and Hurts Productivity
  • The average cost of IT downtime was reported as $8,622 per minute.
  • 63 percent of respondents stated that IT incidents or outages hurt employee productivity, 60 percent that they caused IT team disruption or distraction, and 34 percent that they decreased customer satisfaction. 13 percent reported that their organization had experienced bad press or publicity due to an IT incident or outage.

“The process to activate and assemble an IT incident response team is ripe for automation,” stated Vincent Geffray, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Everbridge. “Automation has been shown to speed response dramatically. Given the cost and frequency of IT disruptions, and the impact they have on productivity of organizations and potentially on customer satisfaction, the payback on automation is typically very swift.” The sample for the research included 86 percent of respondents from companies of 1000 employees or more; 45 percent were from companies with more than 10,000 employees. New Emergency Communications Research from Everbridge and Business Continuity Institute Reveals Many Companies Still Unprepared for Location-Based Security Incidents

Third Annual Emergency Communications Report Indicates Need for Companies to Approach Critical Event Management from a Global, Location-Aware Standpoint

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced the results of its annual research collaboration with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), entitled “The Emergency Communications Report 2016.” The third annual report from the BCI, in association with Everbridge, surveyed over 600 industry professionals from more than 70 countries, reviewing emergency communications and security incident response plans for organizations around the world.

The research found that a large percentage of organizations have an emergency communication plan, and that it is used across multiple departments. However, it also indicates that organizations take too long to implement their plans, need to be prepared to incorporate traveling and mobile employees and are far less prepared to handle location-based incidents, such as workplace violence and terrorism, where knowing which employees are in, or near, a place of danger is critical. Some key findings include: Key Finding: The majority of organizations have an emergency communication plan, and use it across departments:
  • 84 percent of organizations report having an emergency communications plan.
  • Plans are used across departments and the most common triggers for emergency communications are unplanned IT and telecommunication outages (42 percent), power outages (40 percent), adverse weather (39 percent), facilities management incidents (23 percent), cybersecurity incidents (22 percent) and natural disasters (22 percent).
Key Finding: Employees are less likely to be confined to a single physical location – and critical event management plans need to reflect this growing reality:
  • 1 out of 3 organizations (32 percent) have more than 100 employees who travel internationally.
  • 32 percent of organizations have staff traveling in “high risk” areas of the world.
Key Finding: Over 60 percent of businesses are not prepared for location-specific events, such as workplace violence or terrorism:
  • 30 percent have no communications plan in place to communicate with employees during workplace violence or terrorism.
  • 56 percent are not confident in their preparation for workplace violence or terrorist incidents, and only 6 percent are “very much prepared.”
  • 65 percent felt that simply locating people who may be in an impacted building was their biggest challenge in a workplace violence or terrorism situation; 76 percent indicated that the ability to communicate with those people and confirm their safety was a major concern.
Key Finding: Businesses are not fully prepared to facilitate communications during crisis situations:
  • 29 percent do not have emergency/crisis communications training and education programs.
  • It takes too long for organizations to respond to an incident even though speed is critical in many types of incidents. 26 percent of organizations said it takes more than 30 minutes to activate their emergency communications plan; 12 percent take an hour or more. Only 24 percent activate their plan in less than 5 minutes.
  • Of the 16 percent of organizations that do not have an emergency communications plan, 64 percent said they would only consider putting a plan in place after a business-affecting event.
Key Finding: Organizations utilize multiple communication channels to improve the reliability of getting information to employees:
  • More than half of organizations (55 percent) use three or more methods to communicate with employees during an incident. Email and text messaging are the two most common modes; 56 percent said they still use manual call trees.
“This year, our findings revealed that global businesses are increasingly aware that an effective emergency communication strategy is critical to ensuring business resiliency and the safety of all staff – from lone workers, to executive travelers, to high risk areas,” said Imad Mouline, CTO, Everbridge. “While it’s not surprising to see shared interest in emergency communications across business continuity, IT, security, facilities and other disciplines, it’s clear that organizations are still seeking solutions to optimize their critical event management and response plans for the mobile workforce and to adapt to the growing complexity of business operations and security incidents.” A copy of the research report is available here: http://go.everbridge.com/BCIReport2017_RegistrationPage.html Please also join Owen Miles, Managing Consultant from Everbridge, and Patrick Alcantara DBCI, Senior Research Associate at the BCI, for a webinar that will discuss the research findings and share additional best practices for critical communications. Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Selects Everbridge to Power Emergency Preparedness and Incident Communications

Medical Center to Team with Everbridge to Implement Multiple Products to Improve Critical Communications Processes

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced that Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center has selected Everbridge to improve emergency preparedness, coordination and system wide communications. The Medical Center will be deploying several of Everbridge’s products, covering both emergency and operational communications, including Mass Notification, Incident Communications, Desktop Alerting and IT Alerting™. “Our employees and the people we serve rely on us to keep them safe, secure and informed of critical events at all times,” said Scott Mickalonis, emergency preparedness program manager at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. “Everbridge’s expertise in helping organizations manage the complexity of emergency, operational and IT incident communications will help us be better prepared in the face of clinical, natural or man-made events.” The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is a 500+ bed medical center that provides high quality medical care to the surrounding communities, while serving as a setting for educational and research programs. The center is staffed by approximately 500 full-time faculty physicians, 52 residency and fellowship programs, and over 560 residents and fellows. The Medical Center will be implementing the following Everbridge products to improve critical communications across the organization:
  • Mass Notification – this application will be utilized to send emergency notifications to senior management and employees across multiple devices and contact paths during clinical and non-clinical codes and emergencies. The Desktop Alerting product will also be used to distribute emergency alerts directly to the desktops of employees, to help improve response time and ensure that important messages are being received when every second counts.
  • Incident Communications – this product will be deployed to automate communication workflows and create messaging templates, since relying on manual incident response outreach efforts can lead to missed recipients, incomplete notifications and delayed response times.
  • IT Alerting – this application will be rolled out to help improve coordination around IT outages and incidents by ensuring that the right information is shared with the correct IT team members. The organization will implement the ServiceNow connector to synchronize its ITSM contacts and groups with IT Alerting.
The center is also planning to integrate Everbridge with signage throughout the hospital to improve real-time alerting during incidents when staff needs to be immediately made aware of emergencies, such as an active shooter or disease outbreak. “With over 11,000 employees and more than 28,000 patients admitted each year, it is crucial that the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center utilizes the latest emergency and incident management technology,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “The most important part of being prepared for a potential crisis is knowing how you will share information with decision-makers, staff and patients alike – so it can be done quickly and easily when the situation arises. With Everbridge in place, the center can automate this process, helping to connect all of these parties and keep them informed in near real-time.” Everbridge serves over 800 hospitals, and over 3,000 total customers, including many communities and organizations in Pennsylvania, such as the Cities of Harrisburg and Philadelphia, the Southeastern Task Force and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Everbridge Helps Over 900 Counties and Organizations Send Safety Information During Hurricane Matthew

System wide approach and multiple paths to reach citizens and employees improve critical communications

BURLINGTON, Mass., Oct. 17, 2016Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBG), a global software company that provides critical communications and enterprise safety applications to help keep people safe and businesses running, supported communities and businesses across Florida and throughout the southeastern United States as catastrophic Category 4 Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc over the weekend of October 7-9th. As residents were forced to evacuate their homes and counter unprecedented rainfall, wind, power outages, road closures and other incidents, the Everbridge critical communications system was used by over 900 counties, cities, businesses, transportation authorities and hospitals in the southeastern United States to send millions of messages over the course of the weekend. In addition, global organizations leveraged the Everbridge platform to communicate effectively to impacted employees and customers located in the path of the storm. “With Hurricane Matthew, it was critical to our organization that we communicated decisive and actionable emergency information to our customers,” said Randy Sheltra, SSH, VP Safety, Loomis Armored US. “The Everbridge platform enabled us to easily deliver critical alerts to these customers across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, helping to ensure their safety and awareness of the most up-to-date emergency information throughout the course of the storm.” In Florida, the statewide emergency notification program, AlertFlorida, is powered by Everbridge. During the lead-up to Hurricane Matthew, and throughout the course of the storm, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) leveraged Everbridge’s system for internal communications between members of the State Emergency Response Team (SERT), as well as for the distribution of public notifications to millions of residents in the state, providing them with critical alerts and evacuation orders. The FDEM also embedded an Everbridge employee in the State Emergency Operations Center for five days to support the state and counties during the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew. The SERT also utilized Everbridge’s Community Engagement™ application to establish the keyword, FLPREPARES, and encourage residents, first responders and family members to sign up for alerts by texting the phrase to 888-777. This very simple “opt in” method provided the state with an additional way to help ensure that their critical messages were being received. After launching the keyword and promoting it during Governor Rick Scott’s press conferences on Thursday, October 6, the state received more than 350,000 opt-ins in less than 24 hours. In his press conference regarding the storm, Governor Scott commented that the alerts “can save your life.” “Our customers demonstrated exceptional preparedness and resiliency during Hurricane Matthew. We are proud to have worked with the State of Florida and many other communities and organizations in a programmatic way to help them inform and instruct their citizens and employees,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO, Everbridge. “Time and again we see that having multiple means of engagement is crucial to ensuring that critical safety communications are received, and Hurricane Matthew was no exception.” Communities and organizations across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina continue to utilize the Everbridge suite in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. The system’s multiple methods for delivering critical communications are designed to ensure performance in the event that power outages or overloaded phone lines compromise an individual communication path. For continued Hurricane Matthew recovery updates and to receive the latest information and updates from the Florida State Emergency Response Team, residents and visitors can text the keyword FLRECOVERS to 888-777 and business owners can text FLBIZRECOVER to 888-777. Current AlertFlorida and other Everbridge/Nixle® subscribers in the affected areas will continue to receive their regular local alerts and can choose to opt-in to FLRECOVERS for Hurricane Matthew specific information. Survey: Businesses Overwhelmingly Concerned About Active Shooters in the Workplace, But Are Unprepared for Them

Despite Two-Thirds of Organizations Naming Active Shooter as a Top Threat, 79 Percent Are Not Fully Prepared – and More Than 60 Percent Run No Readiness Drills

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everbridge, a global enterprise software company that provides applications which automate the delivery of critical information to help keep people safe and businesses running, and Emergency Management and Safety (EMS) Solutions, a provider of professional consulting services in the area of incident management, business continuity planning and exercise design, today announced the findings of recently completed research into organizations’ safety communications plans and their ability to manage a potential active shooter situation. The research surveyed security and emergency management leaders at 888 organizations, with a focus on companies with greater than 500 employees. The report, titled “Active Shooter Preparedness,” is available here: https://www.everbridge.com/active-shooter-survey/. Respondents were overwhelmingly concerned about violent acts – such as active shooter situations – taking place at their company or organization. Despite that worry, a majority of respondents also said that they were not properly prepared for an active shooter situation, highlighting communication to affected employees and individuals as one of the major issues. “The results of this study underscore a very disturbing trend. While an active-shooter scenario is every company’s nightmare, few organizations are prepared to effectively manage the situation,” said Regina Phelps, Founder, EMS Solutions. “Companies need to move beyond fear into action, take clear steps to prevent an attack from happening and also be prepared if it does.” Key findings of the research include:
  • 69 percent of organizations view an active shooter incident as a potential top threat. Workplace violence also was cited as a top threat by 62 percent.
  • An overwhelming 79 percent replied that their organizations were not fully prepared for an active shooter incident.
  • Communicating with and confirming the safety of those in an impacted building were seen as the biggest challenges during an active shooter situation by 71 percent of organizations. Despite that, 39 percent still said they didn’t have a communications plan in place.
  • 61 percent do not run any active shooter preparedness drills at all.
  • 73 percent said that employees or students are willing to exchange some aspects of privacy for enhanced security.
The results of the research can be grouped under three major themes:
  • Companies Are Concerned About Violent Acts In The Workplace

Three of the top five threats that companies are preparing for are active shooter situations (69 percent), workplace violence (62 percent) and terrorism (38 percent). In addition, 79 percent of executives and leaders are more concerned about employee or student safety than they were two years ago.

  • Communication During Critical Events Is A Major Challenge

71 percent of security leaders believe that communicating to impacted individuals is their biggest challenge during an active shooter situation. This is followed by the challenge of locating people who may be in an impacted building or facility (55 percent). In order to be properly prepared, companies must have a communications plan in place.

Almost all respondents (94 percent) agreed on the importance of having a method for employees and students to easily report information back to safety officials during an incident.

  • Despite Recognizing Violent Acts As Top Threats, Companies Are Still Unprepared

While respondents reported that they understood the threat of violent acts – and the need for communication channels to be in place – many remain unprepared.

39 percent don’t have a communications plan in place for active shooter events – and essentially the same margin (44 percent) don’t have a plan to communicate and escalate alerts to those most likely to be impacted. A majority of respondents (61 percent) do not run any active shooter preparedness drills, further showing how unprepared they are for potential incidents.

Respondents were asked how prepared they felt they were for an active shooter event – and only 21 percent felt that they were ready. 79 percent replied that their organizations were – at best – somewhat prepared for an active shooter incident. Even among those who felt prepared, only 7 percent said they were “very much prepared.”

“Communication plans, education and practice are critical to being prepared for any emergency situation,” added Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “During an active shooter incident, it is imperative that organizations have a way to quickly and reliably locate individuals in harm’s way and share relevant information, such as instructions to either shelter-in-place or evacuate a particular part of a building. This research shows far too many organizations still have a long way to go to call themselves prepared to locate and inform affected personnel during an active shooter situation.” EMS Solutions and Everbridge conducted the research in July 2016, asking those responsible for the security and emergency preparedness at their organizations about active shooter incident preparedness. The most common titles of respondents were Director of Security, Manager or Director of Emergency Management and Manager or Director of Business Continuity. Less than 10 percent of those surveyed were customers of either Everbridge or EMS Solutions. To download a copy of the “Active Shooter Preparedness” research report, please click here. Everbridge Selected by Orange County, California to Power County-Wide Emergency Notification System, AlertOC

Alert System Connects County Public Safety Officials with Residents and Businesses, Delivering Near Real-Time, Critical Safety and Community Event Information

PASADENA, Calif., August 15, 2016Everbridge, a global enterprise software company that provides applications which automate the delivery of critical information to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced that it has been selected by Orange County, CA to power AlertOC, its emergency notification system. AlertOC provides critical information to area residents and businesses in near real-time, keeping them informed of emergencies, severe weather, traffic updates and daily community events. Orange County is the sixth largest county in the United States with a population over three million residents.

By registering with AlertOC, residents and area businesses can receive time-sensitive text messages, e-mails or voice messages from Orange County or the city in which they live or work. Users can choose to have messages sent to a home, mobile or business phone; an e-mail address; or a hearing impaired receiving device. In critical situations, such as a wildfire evacuation scenario, public officials may connect with users through all available methods to help ensure they have the best chance of reaching them.

Orange County also selected to use the Everbridge Community Engagement application, which allows residents to register for alerts by simply texting the keyword ALERTOC to 888-777. These registrations are expected to increase the reach of Orange County’s emergency management notifications by expanding the county’s contact database and extending community outreach to include additional keyword opt-in campaigns for regional events and community activities.

“Traditional methods of emergency communication can no longer be solely relied upon,” added Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “Through our partnership with Orange County and the AlertOC program, the county is showing that it is taking a regional leadership position in helping its residents remain safe and informed in times of crisis, emergency or even during large community events. We’re dedicated to working with them to use the latest technology to improve these important connections between community officials, residents and area businesses.”

To register to receive important messages from AlertOC, area residents and employees should visit the AlertOC website here and click the city or area in which they live or work.

International SOS and Everbridge Announce Strategic Partnership

Market Leaders Join Forces to Deliver Robust Solutions for Global Travel Security Risk Management and Critical Communications

LONDON, U.K. and BURLINGTON, MASS., August 3, 2016 — International SOS and Everbridge today announced a strategic partnership to deliver critical information to employees and mobile workforces when events occur that may impact their health, safety, security or wellbeing.

Through an integration between International SOS’ TravelTracker and Everbridge’s critical communication engine, client organizations will have access to an advanced set of capabilities to communicate near real-time alerts in times of crisis.

TravelTracker customers will benefit from the reliability of the Everbridge critical communication engine, which delivered more than one billion messages to over 200 countries in multiple languages and dialects in 2015.

"In today’s dynamic workplace, where many staff are likely to be working across campuses, remotely or traveling, it is no longer good enough to alert and get confirmations from people about critical events based upon their ‘static’ office location,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “We are excited to partner with International SOS to enable companies to improve employee safety and duty of care for all employees based upon where people are, inside or outside of the building, and what is taking place near them.”

“Providing timely, accurate, reliable information and advice during times of crisis is critical to reducing risks to an organization and its people,” said Arnaud Vaissié, Chairman and CEO of International SOS. “The partnership with Everbridge is expected to bring with it innovations in the delivery of critical communications, expert advice and assistance.”

Everbridge Utilizes Lenel’s OnGuard® System to Help Keep Mobile Workers Safe

New Safety Connection™ Application Provides Location-Aware Critical Communications

BURLINGTON, Mass., August 1, 2016Everbridge, a global enterprise software company that provides applications which automate the delivery of critical information to help keep people safe and businesses running, today announced a certified interface to Lenel’s OnGuard access control system and acceptance into the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program (OAAP). Certification and acceptance into Lenel’s OAAP program enables users of Everbridge’s Safety Connection application to interface with the OnGuard system and acquire real-time building location data to locate employees, contractors or visitors and communicate with them during critical incidents, life safety emergencies and remote work assignments. Traditional solutions rely on static office location contact information only; Safety Connection enables organizations to reach individuals based upon their proximity to a critical event or risk.

“Lenel has taken a leadership position in providing an open access platform and offering a program that enabled Everbridge to certify the interface of Safety Connection to OnGuard,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “Through this interface we can utilize Lenel’s rich access control and badging system and our Safety Connection solution to improve the accuracy of incident communications and help keep people safe no matter where they are located—inside or outside of a building—during a critical event.”

Everbridge Safety Connection combines automated critical communications workflow processes with the ability to send and receive notifications based on dynamic location – an employee’s last known and expected location – including the building floor or conference room at which the employee was most recently present. Whether it’s to notify a “lone worker” in the field about a regional emergency, deliver “shelter in place” instructions to employees in specific buildings during an active shooter event or to develop near real-time employee rosters for building evacuations and mustering purposes, Everbridge Safety Connection enables automated location-based outreach via SMS text, voice, mobile app, digital signage or desktop alerts. The interface with Lenel’s OnGuard platform adds a new layer of location data to Safety Connection, helping to provide organizations with an accurate record of the whereabouts of employees, visitors, contractors and other stakeholders.

“This is an important interface that extends the physical security capabilities of the OnGuard platform to help ensure that our users can effectively identify and communicate with distributed teams and other individuals during critical events,” said Ronald Virden, managing director, Lenel. “We look forward to working with Everbridge to further combine location data with critical communications technology to improve mustering, evacuation and other security measures.”

The Everbridge Summer 2016 Release features mobility, collaboration, reporting, mapping and workflow automation enhancements to help improve the way that corporations and government agencies communicate accurate and relevant information to the right audiences, on a wide variety of devices, during all types of incidents.

“The seasonal release of our platform and application enhancements demonstrate our commitment to helping Everbridge customers meet their evolving communication needs around personal safety, business performance and compliance,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “The new release improves the speed, reliability, automation and predictability of critical communications in responding to increasingly severe, complex and frequent global threats and business incidents, ranging from active shooter situations to IT outages and cyberattacks.”

Summer Release enhancements include:

Better Workflow Automation for IT Operations and Incident Response Teams

Incident response teams typically have detailed communication and escalation plans and strategies that can be deployed in order to triage issues quickly and effectively.

New functionality in the Summer Release supports the ability for Everbridge Incident Management and IT Alerting users to notify multiple audiences with distinct, relevant messages in an automated and streamlined fashion, and includes:

  • A new Scenario Manager feature within Everbridge Incident Management which provides the ability to launch multiple incident templates simultaneously. Users can launch one incident to trigger distinct notifications and instructions to audiences that need to triage the issue and stay informed (e.g. employees and customers) and those that require real-time status updates (e.g. executives).
  • Improved On-Call Scheduling views (Day View or Staff Schedule View) enables users to quickly identify the on-call roster, in addition to their preferred contact paths.
  • New Schedule import feature enables customers to import iCal formatted calendars (e.g. Outlook, Google and Lotus Notes).

True Community Engagement for Events and Emergencies

The proliferation of mobile devices, social media channels and other communication options has challenged communities to find effective ways to reach residents beyond traditional landlines. To improve opt-in campaigns, Everbridge Community Engagement offers a variety of means for individuals to engage with public safety officials and notification programs, including event-based keyword opt-in and social media capabilities.

The Summer Release provides new Community Engagement application capabilities, including:

  • Community Engagement Dashboard so users can quickly gauge the effectiveness of their opt-in campaigns.
  • Engagement Quick Reports to easily visualize the opt-in statistics for both Community and Event Group subscribers.

Improved Accuracy and Relevancy

Through usability and performance improvements, the Everbridge critical communications platform is on track to support the delivery of over 1.5 billion messages in 2016. Everbridge customers are now sending a notification every three seconds on average, and the platform currently supports over 100 million total contacts.

As a result of continued efforts to improve user and contact experiences, the Summer Release includes:

  • Improved Map Performance allows users to quickly view contacts, buildings and other assets from a global level, down to street level.
  • New Member Portal Site Languages lets users select a language from a list of 15 options to localize their Member Portal experience.
  • New API Notification Reports and Incident Scenarios allow Everbridge to integrate with other internal systems.

Additional Summer Release capabilities focus on making it easier for companies and institutions to deploy Everbridge’s Secure Messaging applications, HipaaBridge and SecureBridge. Enhancements include Single Sign-On (SSO), quick registration options and the ability for organizations to limit staff communications to only their own internal organization on a private network.

Everbridge Launches Safety Connection™: Location-Based Alerting for Incident Response and Employee Safety

New Solution Expands Reach to Employees, Travelling Executives, and Mobile Workforces

BURLINGTON, Mass., April 5, 2016 Everbridge, a global provider of enterprise SaaS critical communications applications, today announced Safety Connection™, a new solution that enables organizations to locate and communicate with staff during critical events and help determine if they are safe or need assistance. Whether individuals are traveling, in a specific office building or operating in the field, the solution can aggregate near real-time location data from multiple sources, including building access controls, travel management systems and mobile app check-ins, to enable organizations to send and receive alerts based on the last known locations of employees, contractors, visitors or residents.

Everbridge will unveil Safety Connection at the annual ISC West event, taking place from April 6-8, 2016 at Sands Expo in Las Vegas, NV at Booth 3040.

“Physical security has principally focused on securing buildings, but the real goal is to secure the people within the buildings,” said Jaime Ellertson, CEO of Everbridge. “With so many employees traveling and working remotely, chief security officers have informed us they need a better way to know where their people are in order to help keep them safe and communicate with them anywhere in the world. That is what Safety Connection is designed to do.”

Everbridge Safety Connection combines automated workflow processes with dynamically updated location data down to the airport, street, building, floor or conference room level which can be aggregated from multiple sources, including:

        • Access control and badging systems, such as magnetic card readers or badges for building entry
        • Wired and wireless network access points
        • Travel information, including corporate travel management and office hoteling systems

Whether it’s to notify traveling employees about a terrorist attack in an international location, deliver “shelter in place” instructions to employees in specific buildings during an active shooter event, or develop real-time employee rosters for building evacuations and mustering purposes, Everbridge Safety Connection enables automated location-based outreach via SMS text, voice, mobile app, digital signage or desktop alerts.

“Everbridge supports our global security team by integrating dynamic employee location information from our building access controls and travel systems with the Everbridge critical communications platform,” said Brian Phillips, Global Security Manager, Alexion Pharmaceuticals. “This enhances our ability to take accountability for our employees’ safety and enables us to reach them on their preferred device with the most relevant information during local or international emergencies.”

Features of Safety Connection include:

            • Identification of contacts and their last known location
            • Integration with wireless access points, including a connector for Cisco Meraki
            • Physical access control connectors to systems such as:
                • S2 (available today)
                • Lenel (expected in 2016)
                • Tyco (expected in 2016)
            • Open SFTP access to include custom datasets with last known location information
            • 3-in-1 Mobile Panic Button application available on iOS and Android that allows employees, residents, and other users to immediately send a panic message to their security team, sharing their current location. The panic button features the ability to send audio and video content, check-in to capture and report geo-location data, and provide tracking information while traveling through an unsafe area that will trigger a panic message if something abnormal occurs.

Safety Connection works in concert with the Everbridge automated notification platform, which reliably sent over one billion notifications in 2015 and was designed to comply with strict security standards, including NIST 800-53.

Everbridge Mass Notification Powers Connecticut’s CT Alert Program, Keeping Residents Safe and Informed Statewide

State of Connecticut Renews Critical Communication and Community Engagement Solutions Contract for Sixth Consecutive Year

BURLINGTON, Mass.-Everbridge, a global provider of SaaS-based unified critical communications solutions, today announced that the State of Connecticut has renewed and extended its contract with Everbridge to provide notification services statewide for the sixth consecutive year. As one of the largest statewide notification deployments in the nation, “CT Alert,” powered by Everbridge, enables Connecticut authorities to communicate critical information directly to every hospital, emergency response agency, business and resident across the state to keep them safe and informed. The system is used for both emergencies and important day-to-day operations.

The partnership between the State of Connecticut and Everbridge continues to grow from its successful foundation, with this year marking the first statewide deployment of Everbridge Community Engagement™, available in early January 2016. Part of the Everbridge Suite, the Community Engagement service leverages day-to-day community connections to expand resident and visitor opt-ins, while helping the State of Connecticut and local officials to engage in two-way communications with constituents via social media. Community Engagement is expected to improve the resident opt-in database by using keywords to encourage people to opt-in via text message, rather than simply relying on E-911 data.

“The State of Connecticut led the nation when it implemented its unified statewide mass notification service in 2009 – allowing state officials and emergency responders to engage with residents and keep them informed at all times during critical situations,” said Stephen Verbil, Emergency Telecommunications Manager at State of Connecticut DESPP/DSET. “We are proud to continue to deliver on our commitment by extending our capabilities with the two-way communication and daily update features of Everbridge’s Community Engagement component.”

Following the State of Connecticut’s initial rollout of Everbridge in 2009, the CT Alert program has been expanded to constituents across the state – reaching all municipalities, counties, cities and towns. With six years of demonstrated success, the CT Alert program is widely recognized for its ability to improve communications and emergency notification between officials and residents across the state, while increasing operational efficiencies by enabling officials to use a single unified platform.

“Everbridge’s successful, long-term partnership with the State of Connecticut demonstrates our commitment to build stronger, safer communities,” said Jaime Ellertson, Chief Executive Officer, Everbridge. “Connecticut has proven itself to be a leader in critical communications and emergency preparedness – and we are honored to continue to partner with the state and provide its public safety officials and residents with the most advanced tools available today.”

hVIVO and Everbridge Partnership Redefines the Patient Recruitment Process to Improve Efficiencies and Accelerate Time to Market

hVIVO, the pioneer of human disease models, and Everbridge, a global provider of SaaS-based unified critical communications solutions, are joining forces to offer a next generation, virtual clinical trial platform that has the potential to transform the trial volunteer experience. The offering leverages secure clinical collaboration and telemedicine solutions from Everbridge to transition the trial volunteer experience from a sporadic notification process to an interactive, self-service community-based environment. The partnership provides access to personalized communications, secure dialog and remote data sharing between volunteers and their clinicians, which can help to streamline clinical trials and improve operational efficiencies.

Drug development remains a long and costly process, with clinical trials often taking 10-20 years. Trial recruitment activities play a pivotal role in defining time to market. According to the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development, study timelines are typically extended to twice their intended duration in order to meet enrollment levels. Despite this, 48 percent of trials still do not meet their recruitment targets. This novel, web-based clinical trial and volunteer communication platform will aid in maximising the engagement, retention and growth of volunteers enrolled for clinical trials through continuous 360 degree information collection and exchange via secure mobile and video communications. The platform promotes an ongoing dialog with volunteers, stimulating volunteer recruitment and avoiding trial delays.

Virtual recruitment and engagement for clinical trial patients aligns with the growing adoption of mobile health tools by both healthcare professionals and consumers. According to Forrester Research’s, November 2015 report:  “Predictions 2016: The Empowered Patient,” “...mobile and wearables drive new patient interactions and new data. Smartphone adoption is at an all-time high for more than just Millennials. More than half of consumers have used their smartphones to get health information.” Clinical trial volunteers should likewise benefit from an easy-to-use, secure messaging and video solution that can transform their interactions over the course of the trial.

Enabling a better human experience is at the core of both Everbridge’s and hVIVO’s operations. The hVIVO platform tracks human disease in motion at the clinical, cellular and molecular detail, in addition to collecting patient reported information. This enables hVIVO to build the widest and deepest human samples-based data pool and support rational drug target and biomarker selection, creating more sustained value from this “client data.” The hVIVO human disease models platform can also bridge human biology and digital health, enabling unique insights into disease biology.

Everbridge is committed to driving innovation in healthcare by improving the clinical communication and collaboration experience for both clinicians and patients. The company’s unified critical communications platform and HipaaBridge, its secure messaging application designed for HIPAA compliance, can enable organizations to quickly and securely deliver the right message, to the right professional or patient, on the right device, at the right time.

The partnership between hVIVO and Everbridge will promote:

    • Effective communication with the 100,000-person volunteer community
    • Secure communication and collaboration between clinicians and volunteers
    • Remote virtual health and telemedicine visits and data capture for volunteers and hVIVO’s clinical studies customers
    • Better volunteer recruitment and clinical workflow efficiencies

“It’s incredibly gratifying to partner with an innovator like hVIVO to drive engagement and collaboration in the clinical trial process,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “We look forward to providing a secure platform that can promote not only virtual health between clinicians and volunteers, but also can help drive broader efficiencies in clinical trial development and advancement.”

“Timely enrollment of the right subject is paramount for delivering today’s game-changing drugs on schedule,” said Kym Denny, hVIVO CEO. “hVIVO and Everbridge’s virtual clinical trial platform is designed to provide flexible study options for sponsors and an interactive volunteer experience, which can help improve efficiencies and bring innovative therapies to market more quickly, creating a win-win scenario for sponsors, volunteers and ultimately the patients.”

hVIVO and Everbridge plan to roll out this virtual clinical trial platform in phases, starting with the initial Volunteer Communication Platform in early 2016, followed by the full technology suite later in the year.

From the Business Continutiy Institute: Communicating in a Crisis (Emergency Communications Report 2015)

A newly published report from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) has demonstrated the need for organizations to invest in an emergency communications plan by revealing that nearly two thirds of respondents (62%) to a global survey had activated their plan during the previous year. The urgency of emergency communications is further highlighted by over three quarters of those activations taking place within 30 minutes of an incident commencing.

The Emergency Communications Report, supported by Everbridge, noted that over a quarter of emergency communications plans do not request a response when activated. This is a worrying statistic as, if an incident is important enough to justify the plan being activated, then surely it warrants knowing that the message has been received by the intended recipients.

Further findings from the report include:

    • 14% of respondents reported that they do not have an emergency communications plan.
    • Of these which do not have an emergency communications plan, over two-thirds (68%) state they would only create one after a business affecting event.
    • Email is the primary method of communication used during an emergency with 83% claiming to use this, while 63% use manual call trees, 55% use emergency communication software, 55% use crisis telephone lines and 53% use website announcements
    • Over two-thirds of respondents noted that their organization has emergency communications training and education with regularly scheduled events.
    • Nearly three quarters of respondents (72%) stated that their plan is exercised at least once per year, with a further 16% stating it is done at last twice per year
    • Common triggers for activating the emergency communications plan include unplanned IT outages (50%), weather related incidents (49%), power outages (47%), natural disasters (45%) and fire (42%)
    • Over two-thirds of respondents (70%) use mobile communications in private messaging to staff.

Patrick Alcantara, Research Associate at the BCI and author of the report, commented: “Reliable emergency communications saves lives and demonstrates how organizations approach their duty of care to their employees, customers and stakeholders. The survey results affirm that many organizations take this duty seriously and offer opportunities for further improvement. We thank Everbridge for supporting this study and sharing our goal of producing top-quality research that impacts practice.

Imad Mouline, Chief Technology Officer at Everbridge, commented: “The findings highlight that the unpredictability of global threats continue to necessitate a comprehensive enterprise critical communications strategy. While it’s refreshing to see that organizations are more actively developing plans, and using mobile as part of their strategy, there is still work to be done to ensure that communications are securely and reliably reaching employees and customers.

The report concludes that top management buy-in and integration among different functional roles contribute to the successful embedding of emergency communications capability. Furthermore, organizations must focus on encouraging responses to emergency communications and this begins by defining acceptable response rates. This should be made easier as mobile communications are increasingly used by organizations as part of their emergency communications arrangements and technology has advanced so much so that this is a basic capability. Key to getting buy-in is education and training programmes which must be implemented as part of an overall holistic approach to continuity and resilience.

Everbridge Announces Conversion Program for Hippomsg Users to Transition to its HipaaBridge Clinical Communications Platform

Customers Can Improve Clinical Workflows and Facilitate HIPAA Compliance with HipaaBridge

BURLINGTON, Mass., December 1, 2015Everbridge, a global provider of SaaS-based unified critical communications solutions, today announced the opportunity for users of the free Hippomsg HIPAA-compliant messaging application for medical professionals to transition to Everbridge HipaaBridge. Designed for HIPAA compliance, the Everbridge solution can enable care team collaboration by supporting secure clinical communications and telemedicine.

“As we retire Hippomsg, we have looked for the best home for our loyal users and have found it in HipaaBridge,” said Rahul K. Shah, MD, MBA, CEO and Co-founder of Hippomsg. “The secure mobile application is already beloved by many clinicians across the country, and is available as both a freemium and paid application. We have worked closely with the team at Everbridge and are confident that they are a great fit to keep our vision of simplifying clinical communications between healthcare professionals alive.”

With the proliferation of connected hospitals, secure communications are critical to supporting clinical workflows and quality patient care. Without HIPAA-compliant messaging technologies, healthcare professionals may communicate in a non-compliant fashion because their priority is the health of their patients. If that means texting about a patient issue on their personal mobile phone, they’re likely to do it, even if that means sacrificing HIPAA compliance. According to research by Everbridge, 88 percent of healthcare professionals say HIPAA-compliant communications are “essential” or a “high priority”, indicating the broad desire for more solutions that can facilitate secure, HIPAA-compliant clinical communications and collaboration.

“Rahul, Alex and the whole team at Hippomsg have done an admirable job contributing to the evolution of secure, compliant healthcare messaging,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “We are excited to welcome their users to our community and look forward to helping them through this transition so they can focus on what they do best— caring for patients.”

Everbridge Launches Intelligent Profiles Solution to Improve Employee Security

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everbridge, a global provider of SaaS-based unified critical communications solutions, today announced the launch of Everbridge Intelligent Profiles™, a new solution that combines physical access control systems data with multi-factor location awareness data to rapidly find and communicate with employees during disruptive events or emergency situations. With today’s workplace becoming increasingly mobile – featuring distributed teams, large campuses, contractors and remote employees – this new solution improves the ability of organizations to prioritize safety and communications by coordinating an employee’s last known location, work schedules and travel itineraries.

Everbridge Intelligent Profiles can combine employee location information from multiple different systems to provide companies with more granular data on specific employees. This richer information set enables critical communications to reach the right employee, in the right location or facility, on the right device with the right information, during a disruptive global or local event. The solution can integrate data from:

    • Existing physical access points, such as magnetic card readers or badges for building entry
    • Information technology (IT) network access data from wired and wireless access points
    • Travel information, including corporate travel and hoteling systems
    • Everbridge mobile applications

The Everbridge Intelligent Profiles solution helps ensure that organizations have accurate information to assess employee location for automated communications during major disruptive business events ranging from power outages that require relocation to alternate locations, to fires that require mustering processes during building evacuation, to active shooter scenarios that might provoke “shelter in place” actions.

    Additional functionality includes:

    • Unified location Intelligent Profiles: Automatically keep a current record of an employee’s “last known” location, even when they are traveling. The solution can combine travel plans, wireless and network presence data, office hoteling data, mobile geo-location, physical access and badging system data to give a current, accurate view of employee location.
    • Improved communication with traveling employees: Communicate with traveling employees based on their expected versus actual locations.
    • Automate mustering, building evacuations and “shelter in place”: Build employee lists based on location and proximity to an incident, whether employees are in their assigned location or a location they are visiting. Use two-way communication to reach out to specific individuals for instant acknowledgment or re-allocation – and to quickly confirm when each employee is safe.
    • Quickly target and reach people: Target the people potentially in harm’s way via SMS text, voice, mobile app, digital signage or desktop alerts.

The Everbridge Intelligent Profiles solution helps companies to bridge the gap between physical and logical security. It can deliver security communications to safeguard employees wherever they may be, providing new opportunities for employee protection and corporate risk services. Everbridge connectors leverage data from third-party physical access control & badging systems and can be customized and enhanced by security system integrators. Additionally, the Intelligent Profiles offering can provide security consultants with a more advanced security solution that can enable their clients to view and access data-rich employee information and respond to incidents in times of crisis.

Everbridge will be in attendance at the annual ISC East event, taking place from Nov. 18-19, 2015 at the Javits Center in New York, NY. Company executives will be showcasing the new Intelligent Profiles solution throughout the event at booth number 258.

    Platform Enhancements

With the Summer Release, Everbridge continues to build on its global infrastructure for enterprise critical communications. Through continued collaboration with customers to meet their communication requirements, the new release features our regular platform performance, scalability and reliability improvements, as well as:

    Application Upgrades

Everbridge’s enterprise applications are secure, easy to deploy, and leverage the scale of the unified critical communications platform. The Summer Release features new applications, as well as upgrades to existing capabilities, delivering contextual communications during all types of critical business and emergency events.

Everbridge Integrates Community Outreach and Emergency Management in New Community Engagement Solution

BURLINGTON, Mass.--Everbridge, a leading global provider in unified critical communications, today announced its Community Engagement solution, aimed at helping local governments and law enforcement build strong, transparent relationships with the communities they serve. The new solution increases the reach of emergency management teams and expands community outreach to include keyword-based opt-ins; Facebook, Twitter and Google message distribution; and access to Nixle community resident opt-ins. Everbridge Community Engagement includes the free OneBridge Mobile App which allows residents to share information with neighbors and connect with their local public safety team.

True collaboration between local government, public safety, schools, businesses and residents is essential for the success of any community – and these connections need to be built on transparency, trust and mutual respect in order to be successful. Everbridge’s Community Engagement solution meets this need by helping to create a stronger and more engaged community – one that improves the communication reach and opt-in database for emergency personnel, while providing residents with real-time community information and a forum to share and interact with neighbors and public officials.

The Everbridge Community Engagement solution integrates powerful technology from Nixle, an Everbridge solution and open communication platform that enables real-time, two-way communication through text, email, voice messages and social media.

“Trust and transparency begins with regular, open communication between officials and residents,” said Lt. Chris Bolton of the Oakland, CA police department. “Everbridge and Nixle continue to add a new dimension to the public safety conversation by enabling our community to be better connected and share and receive information in real-time, improving the way we work together to improve safety and engagement.”

The Community Engagement solution supports active and engaged communities with:

    • An Easy Opt-In System

Gathering and managing emergency management opt-ins from residents can be difficult. Connecting and engaging with as many citizens as possible, however, allows community reach to be quickly expanded.

Everbridge makes several different methods of opt-in available, including anonymous texting of a zip code to 888777; website registration; and downloading of a mobile app. The solution also enables keyword opt-ins for specific events and groups—residents can text event-based keywords to follow sporting events, festivals, concerts and convention information. Organizations can also use these keywords to communicate to large groups of people with ease, particularly during an emergency (i.e., a lock-down scenario).

A larger opt-in database improves community reach and also increases the user base that public safety has access to when there is an emergency. When a situation arises, Community Engagement’s network effect will kick in, residents will share important notifications, and all public service information will be disseminated quickly and efficiently. The agency opt-in database grows as a result.

    • Foster a Two-Way Dialogue with Social Media Integration

With the help of Community Engagement’s social media integration, neighbors can share valuable information, suggest ways to collectively address safety concerns, plan public events and more:

    • Facebook: Integrate Community Engagement’s real-time communications to multiple Facebook accounts and fan pages; share and like content to Facebook and enable public comments for community feedback.
    • Twitter: Local officials and public safety officers can share Everbridge communications to their community’s Twitter accounts and facilitate an active dialogue with residents.
    • Google Public Alerts: Everbridge has partnered with Google to provide hyper-local to hyper-national resident reach and engagement during emergencies. Alerts are integrated into Google Search, Google Maps and Google Now. If residents search for a place where there is an active alert, or from an affected area – they’ll see a warning notification.

    • Empower Residents to be Eyes and Ears of the Community

Residents can be valuable resources for law enforcement. With Community Engagement, police and local authorities empower residents to invest in their community through outreach, collaboration and shared leadership.

When residents are effectively engaged and supportive, they can contribute a neutral, first-hand perspective of their community. This information helps local government and public safety maximize their effectiveness, ultimately driving community policing, public safety and agency transparency.

Another key feature of Community Engagement is “Tip Watch,” which helps residents solve crime and find missing people by anonymously submitting tips via text message.

    • Enable Real-Time Alerts with Mobile App

Everbridge’s OneBridge Mobile App is a free smartphone application that allows residents to receive real-time alerts and safety information from agencies. The app provides two-way engagement between residents, local public safety organizations and emergency management. It also encourages neighbors to share information with each other, enabling the community to work together to raise safety concerns, help find lost pets and organize other neighborhood activities.

“It is more important than ever in today’s unpredictable world to foster engaged and connected communities where residents and local officials work together toward a common goal,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “Everbridge’s Community Engagement technology can help emergency management teams and local officials increase their user base while simultaneously encouraging those users to take an active role in sharing information and making their communities safe and engaged.”

“Receiving the SAFETY Act designation was something our company took very seriously and we are pleased to have met this challenging goal on behalf of our customers,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “Our corporate and public safety users can now continue utilizing critical communications to ensure continuity of operations worry free—without any legal liability burden, should our technology be compromised during a terror attack.”

The SAFETY Act was created to provide legal liability protections for providers of Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies. The goal of the Act is to spark the development and deployment of effective anti-terrorism products and services. Meeting the specific requirements for certification is a challenging process and not all organizations that have applied have garnered this acknowledgement.

Leading Application Innovators Commit to App Development Standards to Drive Business Mobility

    June 15, 2015 20:30 ET

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - June 15, 2015) - Today 15 enterprise application leaders announced their commitment to standardize public applications and development in the enterprise with ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise). ACE is the open standard approach for managing and securing apps deployed via enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions. Once an application developer implements ACE standards, users simply download the public-facing application and corporate resources are automatically configured, allowing users to instantly and securely use the app in their jobs. New ACE members include bigtincan, Deputy, DocuSign, Dropbox, Everbridge, Imprivata, Kony, Lua, MicroStrategy, OnBase by Hyland, ScrollMotion, ServiceMax, Showpad, Syncplicity by EMC and Webalo.

ACE was launched earlier this year by AirWatch, Box, Cisco, Salesforce, Workday and Xamarin. Its members are committed to standardizing and simplifying the way public applications are configured and secured for enterprise use. While app developers are fundamentally changing the way that consumers engage with companies, organizations too are transforming business processes and workflows through mobile applications. ACE aims to accelerate that transformation by making deploying applications in workforces easier and simpler for end users and organizations.

ACE is an open and vendor-neutral set of standards for enterprise application development that helps IT easily deploy secure business applications to their users. Before ACE, public application developers had to utilize EMM-specific software development kits (SDK's) and app containers, requiring them to create and maintain multiple versions of applications. Today, harnessing the capabilities made available from the latest iOS and Android operating systems, ACE applications deployed via an EMM solution are configured to:

    • Automate the first-time setup experience with app configuration capabilities
    • Secure app connectivity to corporate networks with per-app tunnel
    • Avoid separate user login requirements for each app with single sign-on
    • Allow access to native apps only on secure, compliant devices with access control
    • Prevent data leakage with a flexible set of security policies including open in and copy/paste controls
    • Wipe corporate data remotely from lost or stolen devices

This is a huge step forward for enterprise mobility, and we're delighted to be taking it along with our partners at VMware, Box and Apple."

"We are proud to join ACE and enable our application for wider enterprise use. App development for enterprise use has been traditionally fragmented, and ACE is the first industry-wide solution that will solve this problem regardless of application or EMM provider," said Dave Yarnold, CEO, ServiceMax. "Mobile applications are now the lifeblood of field service delivery, and ACE is right inline with our mission to enable more field service organizations with the updated, enterprise-ready apps they need regardless of deployment structure."

"We are delighted that AirWatch is taking the lead in promoting a standardized set of practices for configuring app level policies and integrating native enterprise apps with enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions. Everbridge Enhances IT Alerting Solution with ServiceNow Integration

LEXINGTON, Mass., April 23, 2015Everbridge, the worldwide leader in unified critical communications, today announced in advance of ServiceNow’s “Knowledge 15 Conference” a bi-directional integration that seamlessly leverages the full power of the Everbridge IT Alerting solution without leaving the ServiceNow interface. This integration further highlights Everbridge’s commitment to developing the most robust and intuitive platform for IT incident communication, response and resolution.

IT Alerting fills the gap between incident management solutions and IT team response and collaboration activities. Too often, organizations overinvest in incident management solutions that lack the necessary collaboration capabilities. Everbridge IT Alerting allows users to contact team members via email, voice, SMS and push notification anywhere in the world – and combines those features with automatic escalation of alerts and access to on-call scheduling. The new ServiceNow integration from Everbridge automates time consuming manual tasks, including call trees, allowing users to respond as quickly as possible during critical incidents without leaving the ServiceNow interface.

“We will continue to integrate openly with other ITSM platforms to streamline the critical incident communication process for teams—reducing mistakes, decreasing mean time to repair and improving IT system uptime,” said Imad Mouline, CTO of Everbridge. “Everbridge remains dedicated to delivering the best-in-class tools that teams need to quickly and efficiently manage and communicate IT incidents both internally and to customers.”

In addition to the ServiceNow integration, Everbridge IT Alerting features multiple integration options that support the following ITSM platforms: BMC Remedy (Remedyforce, FootPrints), HP Service Manager, Cherwell and CA Service Desk. In addition, IT Alerting supports several monitoring solutions, including: Microsoft SCOM, IBM Netcool, SolarWinds, Nagios, Splunk, Zabbix and New Relic.

“Everbridge continues to invest in an extremely comprehensive IT Alerting platform designed to meet the time-sensitive and unique needs of global IT support teams," said Steven Kiss of SuMO IT Solutions. “Through the integration with ServiceNow and other service management and monitoring platforms, Everbridge customers continue to benefit from the global reach, reliability and functionality of the platform, resulting in faster incident resolution and improved collaboration.”
